Republic Perinatal Centre (RPC) was established on the 1 of June in 2002 on the day of the “International defense of children”, according to the state program "For the healthy generation".

RPC by its structure is the only perinatal centre in Central Asia, it includes all departments for showing medical service to mothers and infants, and it is maternity institution of the 3 rd -level. The centre is counted on 125 beds and works in round-the-clock regime. There are hospitalized patients from all regions of the Uzbekistan. The Centre consists of 9 departments showing medical services to infants and children of pectoral age, and 5 departments showing medical services to the pregnant. At the Centre there works more than 350 people, among them there 80 doctors, 200 nurses and 70 people of technical personal. Among the doctors there works nine candidates of sciences, 26 doctors of higher degree. There are being made three doctoral dissertations. All the doctors have passed specialization at international seminars and conferences; they all have certificates of UNISEF, WHO, UNFPA. Doctors’ neanatologists and gynaecologists have passed training at clinics of Russia, Turkey, and Latvia. 18 nurses have higher education. One nurse has passed training in Japan for 3 months.

We receive patients with different pathologies: the pregnant with burdened anamnesis, with lose of fruit at previous pregnancies, with different types of preeclampsia, eclampsia, with exposed defects of developments of the fruit, post stigmatization of the pregnancy (EKO, insemination). In 2005, there were cured 6500 patients, received more than 3000 labors, carried 600 operations of Cesar section. 95% of the Cesar section operations were carried under regional methods of anesthesia: spinal and epidural anesthesia.

There are received infants with innate defects of development of all types, including defects of development of gastric-intestinal tracts, urine-sexual system, with spinal cord hernia, anomalies of liver and bilious-erection ways, with jaw-face defects, defects of exchange functions, with complex labor injuries and asphyxia. There were carried 150 correcting and reconstructing operations of infants.

In period of work from 2002 to 2006 at the Centre was held much work on applying new perinatal technologies:

• There is signed and being realized the project of cooperation between the RPC and the Clinic of neonatology, Charite, Berlin, Germany, under the leadership of Professor Roland Wauer, on the theme "Studying indexes of perinatal death in Tashkent and Tashkent region". There is organized the exchange of specialists on neonatology.
• There were carried on with international experts of UNISEF seminars on programs of safe maternity; there are created single protocols of treating different obstetric pathologies.
• There were prepared with assistance of international experts of UNISEF 4 national trainers on program "Primary reanimation of infants" . There were held 12 seminars on educating 450 doctors neonatalogists of Tashkent city and Tashkent region to methods of primary reanimation of infants and shared methodical textbooks and recommendations about improving work of neonatal services at places.
• By the workers of the Centre Sirdarya region with population of 300 000 people is taken for realization of the programs “Safe maternity” of WHO, prophylactics interhospital infection in maternity institutions, the program of ALSO. The region is divided into districts where detailed seminars for doctors of all levels were held.
• There is being realized state grand for the project "Long-term individual forecast of development of infants, children of early ages and improving the methods of correction of forecasted faults". There were registered more than 200 mothers and children of early ages. According to the results, there were published two scientific works, methodical recommendations.
• There are being formed exit brigades consisting of neanatologist, obstetrician-gynecologists, neonatology’s-surgeon for showing an emergency medical service at places.

There is being held great scientific work:

• Studied the consequences of hypoxic defeat of infants – 9 articles;
• Examined and described innate anomalies of urine-sexual system of infants – 12 articles;
• Studied the immune status of women with epithelial сystomas of ovary – 1 article;
• Features of regional anesthesia of women of elder and older ages – 4 articles;
• Status of feto-placentar shortness of the pregnant of II-III trimester – 2 articles.

Plans of the development of the Centre:

• To establish under the leadership of the RPC perinatal centers at regional centers of the Republic with educating doctors to new perinatal technologies;
• Organize first congress of Perinatologists of Central Asia and the Caucuses in October of 2006 with international specialists;
• To hold seminars according to the program on features of anesthetization in obstetrics, for doctors-anesthetists working at maternity institutions of the Republic;
• To cooperate with perinatal centers of China, and countries of Central Asia and Caucuses;
• To form brigades for showing emergency medical services at places, consisting of neonatologists, gynecologists, neonatologists-surgeons, anesthetists. To provide these brigades with necessary apparatus for diagnosis, showing emergency medical service, and with opportunity to transport patients to the RPC;
• To educate doctors neonatologists of the Republic to the methods of primary reanimation of infants according to a single methodology, approved by experts of UNISEF;
• To participate in realization of the project of WHO on program of vertical transference of AIDS.
